Simen Pedersen
Hello! I am new to Affinity Designer, and trying to get into graphic design/logo design. Recently i have tried out some of AD's tools and features, but i'm struggeling with something. I want to split/seperate a text layer into 2 pieces, but i can't seem to manage this. I have read that i have to make the text layer into curves, and use the ''node tool'' to point where to split between, but this does not work for text, only shape. I would appreciate it someone have a solution to this! :)
toltec
How do you want to split it. Like this or do you mean diagonally ? or something else ? Edit. I have included an .afdesign file in my second post to show you an easy way. There is no need to convert the text to curves, so it remain editable. The method shown by @reglicois brilliant for complex designs. Simen Pedersen and Dan C 2 Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions. Guest
Hi Simen Pedersen, Convert text into curves, ungroup. Draw a very thin cutting line, "Expand stroke". Select the set (text and cut line), "Divide". If necessary, move parts of the letters and delete the remaining parts of the cutting line. toltec
Very nice, but what if you want to edit the text afterwards ? splat.afdesign Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
Guest
In any case, once cut and moved, the text is no longer editable. To keep it editable (so in a single layer), I would use a gradient.

Guest
The colours were chosen at random! As for the official flag colours, they are subject to shades, even if they are well defined.
