Hello all

I don't know what am i doing wrong, but i can't get the black colour, Opacity, flow, hardness is 100%, "pure" black colour selected but i see a grey instead of a black when i use the Paint Brush tool. Colour format is RGB, i tried both 8bit/16bit. Any idea ?? Thanks.

Turn off "wet edges." That sort of turns everything to watercolor.

Oh, I see Lee beat me by a few seconds. It is the obvious answer.

See attached, left wet, right, dry.

Is ‘Wet Edges’ perhaps something of a misnomer here? I would expect that setting to affect only the edges, not the entire brush stroke.

I have to agree. From the Modifying Brushes help:

Quote

The 'wet edge' behavior builds paint up along the edges of your pixel brush stroke, producing a watercolor effect.

The Paint Brush Tool help is similar in its description. But rather than simply building paint up along the edges it affects the entire stroke width of a round black brush, at least when opacity, flow and hardness are set to 100%. To me, the most obviously visible effect with a round black brush is that setting "wet paint" makes it look exactly like one had set either the brush's or the color's opacity to approximately 75%.

Hmmm. Not withstanding the Paint Brush Tool help topic's reference to the stroke, my dictionary says an edge is "the outside limit of an object, area, or surface; a place or part farthest away from the center of something." So one could consider the "edges" (plural) to include the top & bottom surfaces of the paint. In that respect, it would be a misnomer only if the name was "Wet Edge" (singular).

Hmmm. On my 2D display, I can’t distinguish the top surface of the paint, and I don’t see the bottom surface at all!

Really? You can't distinguish the top surface of the paint layer (a.k.a. its fill)? Maybe you need to take a break from your stalking activities & remove those shades. xD
