clone/inpainting / delete object brush help.

Recommended Posts

HI Folks.. I'm very new to Affinity and I'm doing my very best to learn, I've never used P/S or Affinity ever and i'm struggling. When I click on the clone/ or object removal tool, ( looks like a band aid) I get a message saying, click y( or something similar) to select a specific point before using the brush... I try but just can't work it out.. Any advice is greatly appreciated.. Thank you.. Neville....

There are several tool in that group, click and hold over the band aid icon to open up the group.

The first one is the Healing Brush Tool (the one you tried). It uses a reference point to cover (or heal) the blemish. You need to select a clean, blemish free, part of the image to cover the bad part. Like a skin graft, you need a good part. Press and hold down the Alt key and click to select the good bit. Then click on the blemish.

The third one is the Blemish Removal Tool. Select that and just click on the blemish to remove it. Like a mini Inpainting tool. You can also click and drag over a good area if you don't like what it did first time.

The fourth one, the Inpainting Brush Tool allows you to paint over an area (it goes red as you paint), this area will then be replaced when you release the mouse button.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

If you want to learn how to use those tools look at this web site http://www.miguelboto.com/affinity/photo/video-tutorials/ there are some videos on how to use the cloning and inpainting tool and much more.
