find a way to display multiple artwork on one spot

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if the title is really clear... I tried to find the answer in a previous thread but I couldn't get any.

I actually a a file where I create all the différents files. I make them from 6 différents artworks as here:

image.thumb.png.873df7629a3a75d2e38c481d49ff5836.png

But, since these are a going to be (more or less, sometimes yes, sometimes no) together later on, I would like to see quickly how it looks.

So what I would like to do is for instance to have a "display artwork" where I could actually have everything together, but each on being edited in its own artwork.

So it would look like something like this:

image.thumb.png.86697cdbeb12b5b09bb3c7d068f0502f.png

Please don't judge me, these screenshots are for the example hahaha

I don't know if I made myself clear... If I didn't I'd be happy to give more details :)

Thanks in advance

Hi hujikoda,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

You didn't specify which application you are using. I'm assuming you are creating this in Affinity Designer. If so you can use an artboard for each artwork piece (they can all have different dimensions) and have them all in the same affinity file. Check these video tutorials to learn more about them:

Thanks Meb, I'm not new here though, just changed name.

Yes I forgot to say it was on Affinity Designer. And my bad again, I meant artboard when I said artwork... I just changed the language of affinity in English so I can understand more easily what you guys are explaining^^ still got to be used to the words.. Here is the screenshot with some colours: red=original artboard, yellow=the "display artboard" and green the clones of original artboards duplicated on the display artboard to have a better idea of the final look.

Makes sense? ^^ I hope so, I don't know how to explain better...

I was just somewhat curious as to why Alfred included a link to a French help page.

I assume he either knew @hujikoda is (a la Prince) "the artist formerly known as" Guillaume06 or noticed that in another of his replies like this one that one of his screen captures was in French.

That, or Alfred is either telepathic ... or a stalker! :1_grinning:

I must admit, that is a perfectly credible alternative. Sorry Alfred, I blame the shades ;)

Or just trust the forum's shady stalker for that?

Merci Alfred! Sweet of you to send me the instruction in French :D

It works perfectly fine!

One last concern though. Than I create a symbol from an artboard, it just duplicates the artboard and the content of it becomes synchronised (yellow arrows). The problem is that it is rather confusing in my layer and I renamed one "symbol" so I don't get confuse (although there is no hierarchy between them). It creates a symbol only from objects (or group of object).

It is not possible to have the symbol for a artboard (or maybe I am doing it wrong)

Thanks for your answer quick an efficient and sorry that I didn't find it myself the the help section...

You can create Artboard Assets by dragging them to the Assets Panel; to show the Assets Panel go to (View > Studio > Assets), on Mac you can just drag and drop them, I don't think Windows users can do this, so, if you are a Windows user you will need to use the Burger Menu  and choose Add From Selection.

Tip: Add a rectangle the size of the Artboard to see the Artboard in the Assets Panel otherwise it will not show, you can always hide or delete the rectangle as you place an Asset in the workspace.
