Layer Colours

"Layer" is a strange word in our office :)

In Designer terms, it represents a "Special type of group which sometimes enforces scoped selection (click, drag box), and has a colour which all tool UI uses".

In Photo terms, it represents "Any item in the layers panel" - everything is a layer.

This is primarily historical - we have deliberated long and hard, for 5 years, how to solve this naming conundrum :D - and we are possibly further away from an answer than when we started :D

At the moment, Photo does not expose Designer-Style layers - so unfortunately, you cannot set a colour. If we were to do it, it would really be more "Set a tool UI colour for any item in the layers panel".

Is this what you want?

Thanks,

Andy.

@Andy - Yes that sounds about right, you're a bit more dependent on layers in photo than Designer so it makes a lot of sense. I'm a little layer-phobic in vector apps anyway :) On a side note I think you guys could do with some further indication of what is and is not a group or layer in the stack, I find the grey text isn't enough. I've found when getting stuck in on larger documents I get a bit lost. A little folder icon in the corner of the group thumbnail would be sufficient :)

Am I missing something, or don't we already know a layer is a folder / group if it has a little disclosure triangle to the left of its name?
