Hello, everyone.

I would finally like to know what the various forum user qualifications actually mean.

Moderators - pretty obvious., Staff - even more so.

But there are also : Members, Advanced members, Decicated Users.

Have I missed any ? Are there more ?

Who determines who's what ?

Just curious how all this comes about.

Most of the designations are automatic, based on your post count, but if you go to your profile page and click on the ‘Edit Profile’ link (in the Cover Photo area) you can do as I did and change your member title to whatever you like.

Gotta love that one. Or not... ;^)

There's a difference between users as to what "group" they belong to and what appears right below their name (which can be changed). Take a look at Alfred's tag right below the name...or mine...

You have mentioned that before, I think, and obviously a number of us have done it, but I've never found anything relevant when I edit my profile. Do you have a screenshot?

Thanks. Mine does not have the member title field. Perhaps that's enabled when a member reaches a certain level?

That sounds eminently plausible, albeit unnecessarily discriminatory!

Thanks to both of you. I've not seen a setup like that, but it seems like a likely explanation.

Unless something has changed recently, there must be more to it than that. Before my automatic designation became ‘Dedicated User’, I was able to call myself ‘Advɐncǝd Mǝmbǝr’. :)

Perhaps @MEB or another moderator will be able to tell us :)

(By the way, unless there's some trick I haven't found, with your current (very cute) username of αℓƒяє∂ it seems impossible to notify you using this forum software. The use of @somename to notify a user seems restricted to less unusual characters. Just thought you might like to know.)

I hadn’t thought of that! Too cute by half, it would seem: even ordinary characters have to be typed, not pasted, so any username which doesn’t at least begin with something you can type is immune from being automagically converted into a notification thingy.

Luckily, @αℓƒяє∂, you seem to be the only user right now whose name begins with α so the autocompletion function makes it possible, with a Greek keyboard installed :)

I got it.

Being confused comes from being an oldie !

@catlover With age comes wisdom... :)

To be honest, I still don't get the users 'member title' allocated settings.

My profile member setting is currently blank, which, come to think about it, sounds about right. xD
