lettergothic
Hi, How does one set-up a new document with columns, rows and gutters (a modular grid). Easy to do in InDes, QXP or Ai but I can't seem to ferret out how to do in AfDes. Thanks, lettertgothic
GarryP
I think the short answer might be to wait for Publisher to come out. AD isn't really a page layout application, but Publisher will/should be. I'm fairly sure that you could probably set-up a layout in AD that would suit your purposes - using guides etc. - but it might take a bit more work than you probably hope it would. Staff Gabe Posted May 15, 2018 Staff Share Posted May 15, 2018 Hi @lettergothic, Just adding a bit more to @GarryP, answer. No. You cannot add rows or columns. However, you can add a gutter grid. Go to View > Grid and Axis Manager > Mode: Advanced. Have a look here for more info on grids : • Grids: Icon Design • Grids: Floor Plans • Isometric Grid Drawings: Part 1 (Single Planes) • Isometric Grid Drawings: Part 2 (Multiple Planes) • Isometric Grid Drawings: Part 3 (Layers and Compounds) • Grids: Coloured Lines (1.5) Thanks, Gabe. lettergothic
Thanks for responding, Garry. "I think the short answer might be to wait for Publisher to come out." It's a short answer and a long wait . . . :-( Thanks for the response and the links, Gabe. I know that I can do it manually but having a rows and columns tool (like in QXP, InDes., AI and--in the day--like Freehand (boy, do I miss Freehand) really streamlines the process and cuts down on math unless your measure (incl. gutters) is evenly divisible by the no. of columns. Thanks again to both of you. lettergothic
