Morp pasted layer by holding Ctrl and dragging an edge

Recommended Posts

Hallo,

in Photoshop Elements I was used to do the following:

  • Make a selection
  • Copy selection
  • Paste selection
  • Hold Ctrl and draw a corner - see attachment

In this way it was easy to warp the object or layer.

However this doesn't work in Affinity - holding Ctrl has no effect.

Is there an alternative way to do the same?

Best regards - Ulrich

Hi Ulrich

In Affinity Photo (you can't do it in Designer)

To do this on a separate layer.

Make a selection

Duplicate the selection. Layer > Duplicate. (This creates a new layer)

De-select. Select > Deselect. (Important !)

Click on the Perspective Tool

Drag the handles.

You can also use the Mesh Warp tool (in the same tool group) for more curvy distortions.

You can also use the Mesh Warp tool on the background image without having to make and duplicate a selection. Select the  Mesh Warp tool and just double click on the image to add control points (with handles). As below. The more control points you add, the more control you have.
