Death by Simple Things (Advanced-ish Stamp Effect)

I've been trying to duplicate the above tutorial for 3 hours; now I hate myself. I have to run, can't explain what isn't working for me. Quickly, it's the part of the tutorial that explains how to protect the edge and a bit inside of the edge from the texture via an inner glow on a higher layer.

Please help in exchange for a lifetime namaste.

I need to redo this, but this result isn't too bad spending few time doing it (I'm late too now ) I'll try later to get a better effect.

(it was hight resolution, but I had to make it low res to get a lighter file).

I found that video a bit overworked and you can do the same effect in Affinity in much less steps, so, you could do this...

 

Create the text in the font you want, Choose the fill tool  and choose Bitmap from the Type: option then go find your texture. You can add fx after that (make sure you click the selection tool to come out of the fill tool before applying fx. see video below.

 

Once you have made the effect you want you should be able to add it to the Styles Panel.
