tracyde
I have this idea for an icon that involves 3 dimensional discs layered on top of one another floating in air. Very new to Affinity Designer and am running into issues deleting the overlapping portions of the donut elipsis I created. You can see in the attached image that there are overlapping pieces where there should not be. Is there any way to turn the curves into nodes? Or another way I can delete the connection points that are overlapping? Any help would be appreciated
R C-R
If I understand what you want correctly, one way to do this is shown below: "Convert to curves" can be found on the Layer menu, & in the Context toolbar when the Move or Node tools are selected. "Divide" is on the Main toolbar & in the Layer menu > Geometry. "Break Curve," "Join Curves" & "Close Curve" are actions on the Context menu when the Node Tool is selected. 3D ellipsis.afdesign tracyde and BobsDaubs 2 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V23.0 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
tracyde
Worked perfectly. Took me a bit to realize what "Join" and "Close" Curves was actually doing. Thank you!
Alfred
Just a quick, pedantic note about terminology: an ellipse is an oval shape but an ellipsis is a series of dots (usually three) indicating the omission of text. To add to the confusion, the plural in both cases is ellipses.
