Mjg344
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I wanted to work on the double exposure assignment on page 366. It says to download the resources from https://afin.com/snowqueen but when I download it there is only a single file and it is the completed affinity photo file. From the following pages, it shows there should be other images that I can use to complete the assignment myself. does anyone know if I can get these files somewhere else or is this something I am doing wrong? thanks

Where do you see an "m" in the OP’s link? I only see (or rather, don’t see!) an "f" missing from "affin". Mjg344
sorry, that was my fault typing here. When typed correctly I only get a single file.... I contacted customer support and they sent me the correct files.
R C-R
5 hours ago, Mjg344 said: When typed correctly I only get a single file.... I get a compressed file named "snowqueen.zip" that decompressed contains the single snow_queen.afphoto file. That file includes all the numbered snapshots mentioned in the Workbook, so it is both the finished project & the intermediate steps. The download does not include the two additional files "girlportrait" & "snowmountain." However, each of those files has an affin.co URL reference on the pages where they are first mentioned (p.368 & p.370, respectively), which are redirects to the Pixabay & Unsplash sites where those files can be downloaded. I assume they are not included in the zip file because while there are no restrictions on their use, downloading from those two sites gives users a chance to review the (very liberal) licensing terms, leave comments, credit the authors, etc. Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
caubeyron
Can't get these files. First of all the link in the workbook gets an 'file not found' and then another link only downloads a zip file with just the finished image on it.

First of all the link in the workbook gets an 'file not found' and then another link only downloads a zip file with just the finished image on it. First, make sure you are not using your web browser's search function -- just enter the URL exactly as it is shown near the top of the "Before You Get Started" workbook page in the Resources section & ignore anything that pops up as a suggested result. Don't move the pointer into that area or do anything else that changes the URL to anything other than what you typed. In most browsers, all you need to do is type the URL in the box & press the return key. Dr. L
The problem still exists. But, the real question is; Why, with all the discussion for over a year, has someone at Affinity not taken the initiative to resolve the issue?

Cecil
As stated, you can get "most" of reference of the resources...only finished photo. I downloaded three times, same results. Also made separate post concerning reference png resource, I could download only the jpg version, no png file (woman). walt.farrell
4 hours ago, Cecil said: As stated, you can get "most" of reference of the resources...only finished photo. The earlier editions say that you can get all the resources, which is clearly incorrect as the project requires you to download some additional images. So "most" is correct. Except for the one additional image being a JPG rather than a PNG, nothing should be missing. Assuming your edition has the same instructions as mine, on the Before You Get Started page for the project, in the section Knowledge of Affiniy Photo, please see the second bullet: Quote Follow along with example resources by navigating and viewing snapshots that are saved in your project file. Named snapshots are suggested at stages throughout the project. See p. 9. Page 9 in my edition has a sidebar for Project Resources that covers the concept of snapshots and how to access them, which should be sufficient to work the projects in this book. Here's part of the Snapshot panel for the Snowqueen project: I think that should answer your question, but if not please provide more information about something you think is missing. Cecil
Walt, No problem for me, just reading above post which suggested: On 7/26/2019 at 7:13 PM, walt.farrell said: Possibly because there's no issue except user error in entering the printed URLs? This may just be true; however, for the novice, following directions to the T may cause frustration. In example provide, there were only two jpg files. I would think some may had/would/could assume “most” meant more than one of the completed project. The forum provides exceptional guidance, truly appreciated. In my case I located the files and thought briefly that I made error and downloaded jpg vs. png. The OP just needed help, wrong URL or not. The jpg/png I posted in another thread. Actually thought it may assist future prints. walt.farrell 1 Quote Cecil iMac Retina 5K, 27”, 2019. 3.6 GHz Intel Core 9, 40 GB Memory DDR4, Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB, macOS,iPad Pro iPadOS Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection
