Crash when editing guides

Recommended Posts

I'm running AD 1.6.1.

The app is crashing every time I edit a guide. In my file I add a vertical guide which puts it down the middle. When I double click it to edit the app crashes. It's the same with horizontal guides. Not sure if it matters, but I am using artboards.

Couldn't find this posted already so perhaps it's a unknown issue?

Hey jport,

I assume you're in the Guides Manager when you double click? I can't reproduce the crash here. Are you able to attach a crash report?

Yep — the guides manager. Crash report attached.

I can confirm that this bug is easily repeatable.

I tried it without any artboards and only one horizontal guide.

10.13.3

(keep Touch Bar off for test), doesn't seem to matter however.

Thanks for your input xman. I've just been trying this on a few iMac's and an MacBook (late 2013 retina) and it will not crash. Unfortunately dev didn't find much from the crash report that was attached.

Any chance you can record a video? This might allow us to see if there's any particular setting on your screen that might help us reproduce the crash. If you are able to record a video, could you make sure to include the Preferences > Performance dialog as well, just so I can see what settings you are using.

Thanks

So I posted a related update over on the other post, sorry if it's crossing topics.

But the update is that it seem to go away after restart, but comes back.

Here are some video:

one of it not crash, but showing some of the preferences.

Another, showing AD crashing

last one showing AP crashing in the same way.

Hope this helps

Hey kolpax, welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

I haven't tested it with a MacBook that has a Touch Bar. Now you've mentioned it, it would appear as though whenever this is reported, it is reported against a MacBook with a Touch Bar (as far as I can tell). I'll get development to check as I do not have access to one—thanks for commenting.

I believe we may have tracked this down to the Accessibility Keyboard from System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard > Enable Accessibility Keyboard. Could you please confirm if you have this enabled or not. If you don't, do you use any other apps to assist with keyboard input?

Thanks!

I have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Enable Accessibility Keyboard is turned off. Photo crashes every time I try to edit a guide as stated in the first post. And it's not just in the Guide Manager. Most fields that allow typing crash the app immediately as well. It's regular and consistent. Here is the crash log (it's the 11th crash in two days).
