Habo
I am nearly finished with a booklet but have been challenged that my choice of fonts is not good, which is Ariel and Times New Roman Suggested fonts are Garamond, Palatino, and Minion. The problem is, these fonts can be expensive, especially if you buy the family: regular, regular italic, bold, bold italic, etc Which of our Affinity fonts are a good equivalent ... or is there a way to get the official fonts at a good price, or is there a good alternative. I am self publishing and do not feel I should spend lots of money for fonts

Instead, they use the fonts installed on your system. If you are using a Mac, you probably already have some version of the Garamond, Palatino, & Minion Pro font families installed. Just guessing, but I suspect whoever suggested using them is using a Mac, which may be why they suggested those particular ones. As @Pšenda suggested, there are lots of well designed fonts you can download, install, & use for free from the Google fonts collection. If you are not using a Mac & are curious, below are what the installed versions of these fonts on my Mac look like at 36 point, regular: As you can see, they are all serif fonts. The Google collection includes 180 serif fonts, one of which is EB Garamond, which may be more suitable for your booklet, but there are many others that probably would be as well. Alfred
On 06/04/2018 at 8:46 AM, R C-R said: The Google collection includes 180 serif fonts Note that the number 180 refers to font families, not individual fonts: each font family or typeface usually consists of several styles, commonly four (regular, bold, italic, and bold italic) but sometimes fewer and often many more. For example, Cormorant comes in 6 families comprising a total of 45 font files spanning 9 different styles (Roman, Italic, Infant, Infant Italic, Garamond, Garamond Italic, Upright Cursive, Small Caps, Unicase) and 5 weights (Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold). [Disclosure: The above breakdown of the Cormorant typeface was 'borrowed' from Font Squirrel.] You can similarly filter the list to show only sans serif font families, of which there are currently 249. Lato is quite a nice alternative to Arial, or you might decide to opt for Open Sans or Montserrat if you want something a bit looser.
