grid_tool Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 My design school told me we are free to use whatever software we want. Will Affinity be a good choice?School starts in september and I want to learn everything about Affinity in the meantime.Already got the Affinity Designer Workbook and I'm really enjoying it.I do know/knew the basics of photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, but think I’ve become really rusty with them and I honestly don’t want to return to them. They feel old, chunky, slow and filled with bloat.I know that Adobe is the industry standard, but I want to use the right tools that I think are right for me. I wish I could join the Affinity movement, but it feels like I have no choice then to teach myself Adobe.Advice? Quote
Staff MEB Posted April 5, 2018 Staff Posted April 5, 2018 Hi grid_tool, Welcome to Affinity Forums For those working/collaborating with other studios/agencies using Adobe software it may get tricky to exchange files because there will always be some loss when exporting the files to Adobe formats from Affinity - these are closed (poorly documented) formats for which is hard (if not impossible) to provide full support. For independent designers/small agencies (working directly with clients) - free from these restrictions (exchanging Adobe files/collaboration with third parties) -, Affinity apps can be a great solution. Only you can decide what's best for yourself. Nothing stops you from using both Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
