Normal Map like in Photoshop

Recommended Posts

As a game developer, a normal map function like in Photoshop is needed. To generate normal maps, and draw them.

Please add that function Affinity Photo, I hate monthly paying so I hope I dont need to get Photoshop just because I need normal maps.

A native implementation would be indeed really nice.
Affinity Photo in its current state allows to a certain grade the creation of normalmaps also to change the interpretation
a bit via profiles but more complex stuff like images to normalmaps conversion is rather difficult,
since complex macros aren´t possible yet.

For a start (if you want to create it yourself and from scratch);
diving into Styles, Macros and Layer Blendings can help you a lot further. :)

Another game developer here, I always start my texturing process in algorithmic's substance painter and designer programs. But I do final touch-ups and adjustments inside of affinity photo. Even just an adjustment filter that can convert a grayscale image to a normal map and vice versa would go a long way. :6_smile:
