Alan9940
Does AP honor the color profile tagged with a file (TIFF) when opened? It does seem to know what profile has been assigned, but is the preview shown through that profile or the one set in Preferences->General for RGB Color Profile? Also, I haven't been able to replicate it, but I've seen the selected RGB profile in Preferences revert back to sRGB. This is rather disturbing because I don't know that it's happening! Anybody else notice this? I guess it really doesn't matter what RGB profile is set in Preferences, if the software always honors the in-coming assigned profile and the Preferences RGB profile is used only for new document creation. Thank you for any insight provided. Best regards, AlanH
Staff MattP Posted February 20, 2015 Staff Share Posted February 20, 2015 I believe that at present, if you: - Open the RGB TIFF, your document's RGB profile will become the one embedded in the TIFF (if one is present) - Place the RGB TIFF in your RGB document, then it will be converted into the document's current RGB profile In future, we'd like to add the ability to prompt the user to ask what they would like to do with the embedded profile. You should be able to 'undo' the change in document profile if it was an action you performed to the document, or if you meant the document default RGB space changed back to sRGB then this would happen after a Ctrl-launch of the application to restore default settings. I don't know if either of those things sounds likely to be the cause of your other problem? Thanks, Matt
Alan9940
Hello Matt, Thanks for your reply. So, it sounds like AP will honor the embedded color profile and display accordingly...that's is exactly the way I'd expect it to work. That said, however, I think it would be very helpful if AP prompted the user when there is a profile mismatch between the file and the set working space. That way, there's no guesswork involved vis-a-vis whats going on before you begin an editing session. I'm happy to hear that you're considering this option! As for my working space mysteriously setting itself back to sRGB...I think I know what happened...user error. :) When I updated to beta 2 it didn't occur to me that my selected working space might revert back to default. It really shouldn't do that should it? Best regards, AlanH MattP

stubborndog
I also find the colour management disconcerting since I have not found an info window that tells me what space the current file is in. I have to output to a variety of spaces depending on the client and it is convenient to see what is going on at import and export.
TomM1
I also find the colour management disconcerting since I have not found an info window that tells me what space the current file is in. I have to output to a variety of spaces depending on the client and it is convenient to see what is going on at import and export. The color profile is seen in the upper left of the AP window when a file is open. However, there seems to be some issues with exporting as a pdf with an embedded profile. website Mac mini (2018) 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 64 GB • Radeon Pro 580 8 GB • macOS Monterey
