Open from iCloud with History?

Recommended Posts

I’m really enjoying the ability to save/open documents directly to the Affinity Photo folder in iCloud, however I don’t seem to be able to retain my history with this method? I know that there is an option to Save a Copy to retain history, but this doesn’t let me choose the Affinity Photo folder in iCloud.

Is there no way to edit the same document in iCloud from multiple iPads and retain history along the way? Would like to just change a default setting to always retain history but I don’t see this option anywhere.

I have the default location set to iCloud Drive, but history doesn’t auto save with it.

When I choose Save a copy I have to save it as a separate file in a different location.

What I want is the ability for the main document which is already being saved to iCloud to include the history.

I don’t want to create a second copy for this, moving back and forth between devices means I would need a new copy every time.

Hi Poissonish,

Welcome to the forums.

This is currently a known issue and it's been raised to our Dev team already. In the meantime, there is a workaround for it. You will have to delete the Affinity Photo folder from your Icloud ( Make sure you saved all the content from the folder - if needed ) and recreate it with the same name, from Finder or your file explorer. This should allow you to save it to the same folder while keeping the history.

Update: I've just heard back from the Dev team. It's an issue with IOS and not something that we would be able to fix. Hopefully, Apple would resolve this at some point.

Thanks,

Gabriel.
