Border on an image

Recommended Posts

Hi and welcome. There are lots of ways you could do this.

You could draw a rectangle, fill it with colour or leave white. Make it slightly larger than the image and place the layer below the image.

Or,

use the fx studio, select image layer, select fix studio and turn on outline. Adjust settings for size and colour.

Or, .....

use other effects such as bevel or 3D.

Have fun experimenting, that's what it’s all about. :)

Got to say I’m struggling to follow directions here. Everything I try is proving difficult as the commands do not tally with my new iPad Pro & Affinity s/w commands. I’m brand new to all this and all I want to do is add a border to a picture. What can be so hard about this? I thought I was reasonably IT savvy but seems not.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks.

Hi Lilygilder, don't give up. You probably just need to increase the size of the canvas to show the extra border. Have a look at the screen video I made showing how to add a white border to any image.

First I increased the canvas size to show/hold my new border.

Then I drew a simple rectangle with white fill (use any colour or gradient).

Then I dragged the new layer below my image so the image appears on the white background.

I could have unclipped the canvas from the original image and clipped it to the new layer (lots of ways to do things) but the way shown is nice and easy.

Have you checked out the tutes on iPad editing that were put together by James Ritson? They are an excellent way to learn (I downloaded them from Vimeo and refer to them regularly). Lots of tunes on tube too.
