Most of the Liquify persona tools are not working now [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Hi.  Previously, I had an issue where the punch and pinch tools were reversed.

Now, it seems half the tools in the Liquify persona don't work.

The Push Forward and Push Left are working fine, and the Clone tool is... doing SOMETHING (...I don't get what it is, but I have to read up on it first).

But, the Punch, Pinch, Twirl and Turbulance brushes are all doing nothing now.

I love this software, but am really puzzled/concerned why there seems to be so much trouble within the Liquify persona.

Any news on this, or procedures I can do to fix it?

Win7 Pro 32gigs RAM

Affinity Photo 1.6.2.97

UPDATE: I just noticed there is an update, which I'll be installing now.  Weird that there is no 'Check For Updates' button, or even an automatic check for updates on startup option.

It turns out, that what it was is that the default brush speed (50%?) is so slow, you don't really see any movement in the pixels.

Cranking the brush speed up 'fixed' it (made the distortion occur at a speed where you could actually see things moving).

Hey ladlon,

I'm glad you managed to figure out what was causing this. If you think the behaviour is different between the two versions, I can do a comparison and report back to dev. I can't say I noticed much of a difference but it might depend on the size of the image—I'll do some poking.

I'm having buggy issues with this tool at present. I've got a pretty high powered MBP running the latest OS, latest Affinity Photo, 32GB ram, Intel i9 chip.

If I turn on Liquify persona and begin performing Pinch, Push, the desired effects begin to happen, then for no reason, the alterations snap back to the original photo during the operation.

I then cannot use liquify until I close Liquify and reopen it. I've changed the brush speed up to max, Mesh is always at default 10. I've got a work around, that is do small transformations, at a time, apply, close liquify and reopen. This isn't ideal, but that seems to be how to get the job done. If anyone knows how to resolve this, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks

Hey hiab-x, welcome to the forums.

Would you be able to record a quick video for me?

I'm struggling to reproduce what you're experiencing and seeing it first hand might give me a clue when your UI settings are visible etc.
