Windows affinity: Interface very gloomy

Recommended Posts

Question about Affinity for Windows

Have just started Affinity photo for first time. Very dark and gloomy.

Particularly the tools which are brown on dark brown! Almost unreadable - I can hardly make out anything. What am I doing wrong please?

That sounds like a monitor color setting issue -- in the Dark UI style all the tool backgrounds should be a dark, neutral shade of grey.

Very dark

But it is the dark UI's principle, that does not distract attention from the edited picture.

Light or dark UI, there should be no color cast to the background of any UI elements, because that would influence color perception of the image. If Martin is seeing any of that with a brown color cast, something must be wrong with the display, right?

The color of the UI is indisputably "dark gray".

Yes it should be free of any color cast, but if Martin is seeing something else then something other than the Affinity UI preference settings must be causing that. I am not sure what that cause might be but on a Mac the only way I can get the UI element backgrounds to display as something other than gray is to use a 'tweaked' display color profile.

Maybe dark gray says Martin "brown" :-)

First, apologies. The brown was a slight cast on my monitor, now sorted.

But the gloomy picture is rather better now I've changed to UI light. However my pictures are still vastly inferior to those shown by Toltec, lacking color and poor contrast, gray on gray, not black on gray.

See attachment below (Toltec's on left, mine on right)

Hi,

At some point, all the features of a Wacom intuos tablet will be implemented in Affinity Photo, just like in Photoshop?
A proposal from me, soon set up a feature in Affinity Photo that you can turn off the selection lines and. In Photoshop, I've always found this very convenient, it's less irritating when painting with the brush of smaller selections.
Best regards Dieter

Should not it be placed in another topic?
