Crop Tool

Recommended Posts

When trying to use the Crop Tool, I selected the area I wanted to crop and double clicked inside the crop. Nothing happened. This is the typical way most photo editing programs choose to work. I was confused and tried to crop a photos several time, going in and out of the Crop Tool. After much searching I finally noticed the Tab at the top that said "Apply". This crop action is OK, but it would be better if a message was displayed after clicking inside the selection such as "Select Apply in the menu above to complete the Crop!". Then a person would know immediately how the crop action really works.

So that I don't open new thread for this, I hope it's ok if I post just here. When working on tight deadlines, it's cruicial you have optimized workflow. Currently I'm using PS, but Affinity Photo looks really promising. But one thing I got used in PS is missing, or at least I can't find it. In my line of work, I need to send photos which are 3000px (or in some cases 3500pix) on longest side. In PS I just set cropping tool to 3000pix (on width or on height) and when I crop photo and press enter to apply crop, photo is automatically 3000px wide (or 3000px high if I set 3000pix on height). In Affinity Photo's crop tool, I didn't find this option. I know you can do it in two steps, first crop photo, then change image size to 3000px, but that's extra step, and when you are in hurry as photos need to be sent to editor as fast as possible, this extra step takes too much time, especially when talking about more photos.

Is there chance to think about implementing something like this? Or if it's already there, just pointing me to right direction on how to use it.

Double-click or Enter as a second option (like Photoshop).
