1.6.7 - Saving back to cloud

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm using the new 1.6.7 Open From Cloud feature to open files from Dropbox. The image opens fine, and I can edit it, but my changes are not reflected on Dropbox.

My process for saving my changes has been to return to the Project screen, tap the 3-line icon, and select Save.

Is this the proper process for saving back to the cloud/Dropbox?

Are there any limitations on what files types are supported?

Thanks!

In settings preference change Save location, On My IPad. Open file using Open from Cloud. Save should now work.

Thank you for the suggestion. I saw that option before (Save Location = iCloud Drive), but I never used it because I'm opening from Dropbox (not iCloud Drive). Nevertheless, I gave it a try and my saved changes finally appeared in Dropbox.

Unfortunately, it only worked that first time. All subsequent changes and saves with the same image are not saving to Dropbox.

Is open/save from cloud limited to the iCloud Drive service?

I reproduced the same steps using iCloud Drive as a storage location and everything is working as expected. My saved changes are present on iCloud Drive.

Was I mistaken expecting Dropbox support for Open from Cloud? If so, then I suggest renaming the option Open from iCloud.

If Dropbox support is expected, then I'm happy to help debug this with Affinity folks...

When you choose Open from Cloud, Files opens and you navigate to Dropbox, select and open file in AP. If it is a photo you will need to do a Save as in the working area to create the afphoto file in Dropbox. If it is an .afphoto file already the changes will be saved back to the Dropbox when you do a Save from the welcome screen.

Reading Help, If it is an image and nor a afphoto file you open and edit, you can save back to original location if you flatten the file first.
