Changing a color in Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

I would like to change in the picture the color black to orange.

I tried it with and without selecting everything, adding adjustment layers over the menu, the tool window, I tried the color replacement tool - but nothing worked as expected. I am sure that there is an easy way - but I am to stupid to find it. Any help is highly appreciated.

Add a white rectangle below the text layer, so that its background is white instead of transparent. Cover the canvas with an orange rectangle at the top of the layer stack, and set the blend mode for that layer to 'Screen' (to make the black parts turn orange while the white parts remain white).

Yet another way:

1. Select menu > Selection From Layer with the Background layer selected

2. Set the Flood Fill Tool to the desired orange color, Continuous to off, Tolerance to 100%

3. Click anywhere on the text with the Flood Fill Tool

Pros: single layer simplicity

Cons: destructive

shift-cmd-click the text layer's thumbnail

Shift-Ctrl-click on Windows (which seems to be what the OP is using).

Wow ... so many approaches and I had none of these ideas. i really hope, that I can one fine day think the way that is required to achieve that kind of things. Thank you all, I will try out every approach, but from the looks and the logic I guess that I will end up with @toltec's solution. :)

Please note that the counter (i.e. the ‘hole’) in the initial ‘a’ of ‘application’ in @toltec’s screenshot is filled in. That’s because it’s white rather than transparent in the pixel layer.

Easiest way.... IMHO.

FX > Color Overlay

• Just set the color if you don't care about the aliasing.

• Set it to Screen to address the A-hole that @Alfred pointed out (:D:D:D - this is the real reason why I'm posting a reply).... and to continue on with color aliasing.

• To reintroduce transparency aliasing follow @owenr's directions instead.
