Convert white area on jpeg image to transparency

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I've just downloaded Affinity so literally I'm a brand new user. I use Tagxedo to create word clouds but there is no option to have these created as a transparency.  Although I can select png it still creates with a white background, and due to other problems with the way it works I use jpg instead.  I've now been asked to print one of these designs onto a canvas but the white background is causing problems.  Is there a straightforward way to convert anything white to transparent?  I would be grateful for any advice you can give me.  I've attached a sample file (not the actual one - I'm not asking anyone to do my work for me :) )

thanks.

In either app you can set white transparent using Blend Ranges. You can access it by clicking the cog symbol next to Blend modes selection in Layers palette.

Now how this helps printing is another question as printers usually assume white=no colour. Some textile printers add white ink to cover background colour. Possibly your printer supports transparency.
