Cheers Andy, thanks for adding the Erase Blend mode in !

Of course since I’d mentioned that it was missing, you’ve added it in but in parallel the help file had removed mention of it. No big deal really.

Not a bug but the list mode toggle for adjustments studio is a nice feature, maybe in next release it could also be an option for the filters studio too. I have someone asking for quicker access to their favourites without going for a long scroll through. List mode does make options a little easier for experts to use.

One little question, when I install the App Store Version and cancel the beta, will I have to sign up for a future one, or will the TestFlight profile just "paused"?

cheers,

Lutz

You don’t have to cancel the beta, you can simply go to the App Store and install the current App Store version and return to a beta version later. I did this yesterday to double check behaviour before the beta and afterwards.

I haven't been able to download yet due to limited data access while on the road. Has the inpainting tool and patch tool behaviour been fixed in this release? No mention in 'changes'.

I dont know exactly what the problem was. But I used the in-painting brush in one of my last edits very extensive and it worked flawless. No crash, no slow downs. :)

cheers,

Lutz

Seems ok, first is straightened, second is using inpaintcrop2 macro, last picture is using inpainting tool.

Though I would be reporting a crash involving several iPhone photos I took at weekend, however I’ve just installed IOS 11.3 Beta 3 which just arrived today and AP no longer crashes, so looks like problem was an IOS issue rather than Affinity. So GM still looking good.

I've downloaded the rel version 1.6.7.76 and the inpainting issue is still there. Take an image (pixel layer), use crop straighten tool to slightly rotate the picture and try inpainting the blank canvas. No good. Now try inpainting macro, voila, successfully filled.

Is there any difference between the GM Seed version and the release version? I’m not offered an update when I go to the App Store.

Alfred, if you are on the beta when you go to the App Store you should see a cloud symbol next to the Affinity Photo app. Tap that and the latest release version will download. It is 1.6.7.76 (so same as the GM seed.)

Hi DM1,

Ahh now I get what you want to archive, I think the im painting brush is not really meant to do that. Try something like this:

Thanks, but that's exactly what I meant when I said

I expected to see a cloud symbol, but I only saw an 'Open' button. I tried logging out, closing and reopening the App Store app and logging back in again, but that didn't change anything.

Edit: I seem to have solved the problem by telling TestFlight to reinstall an earlier build. When I went back to the App Store after that, I saw the cloud symbol and tapped it to start a fresh download. I've no idea, of course, whether the whole exercise has been pointless, given that I already had the 'GM Seed' version of 1.6.7.76 installed.

DM1 you missed the rasterise step out after the straighten operation, the inpaint tool cannot work on the transparent edges until layer is rasterised first.

Shorter repeat of your problem and it’s solution.

Great new features. I had expected this to be able to open photos from the iPad in place also, not just from the cloud? Can that be added? Or at least can Affinity be registered as a target app for photos? It’s still not really usable on a larger scale. Say I take 500 pictures and put them in my photos app and want to work with them in Photo I still have to import all of them one by one? And then tediously delete them again when I am done with the project?

Thanks Paul. So it is necessary to rasterise the canvas to get inpainting to infill on a blank canvas. That makes sense as the pixel layer has been moved / cropped exposing the canvas.

I am intrigued how the macro inpaint is able to fill all edges. Does it inpaint the whole image layer? If not how (in 2 steps) does it fill all edges.

I assume the first step in macro is to 'rasterise'.xD

Dave

I agree it would be nice to have direct access. As a workaround you could try Documents by Readdle (free iOS app). It can access photos so you can load off your camera and move to a directory you create in Documents. AP can access all folders created in Documents and has the benefit of retaining correct file naming. When you use Open from Cloud to access Documents it will Save directly back to the source Documents folder.

You can access all you PCs, macs, wireless storage etc from Documents too and view files in Documents.

You don't have to import one by one.

You can currently open AP to project screen, create a new empty Project folder.  Open the folder in AP then drag Photos up from bottom of screen to open at the side. Navigates to photos tap and hold one, tap other to select multiple images then drag across and drop in AP's open folder. The selected images will then be imported into the project folder. I haven't tested the numerical limit but it’s probably just limited by available memory.

Creating an empty Project folder is not really necessary as the photos will import to the project screen anyway. I just find it easier to create a folder to load them straight into rather than have to drag them afterwards.

Yep, pointless. xD They both have the same version number as I found after doing the same thing and a bug evident in the GM seed is evident in this release too.
