When I attempt to use the eraser tool in Affinity Photo ( not the background eraser tool) I get the tool shape with a "string" dragging a "+" which does the actual erasing. It is impossible to control with any precision as there is a lag in distance and direction. The background eraser erases on contact, as expected. I have attached a diagram of the problematic tool.

The circle is the tool size and the idea is to drag the "+" over whatever you want to erase. Imagine the red line is a string (not a rigid stick or rod)  that only permits you to drag the +. It is a great challenge and would probably make a good game, but I am having difficulty actually using it. Where have I gone wrong.

Watching the Brush Stabilisation (Affinity Photo) video tutorial (on YouTube or Vimeo) should make understanding how it works easier.

owenr, thanks. It was right there and I didn't see it. I'm not sure what this feature is for. The pen tool makes accurate paths that can be used to erase along a straight edge.

And thanks to RC-R. For some reason the stabilizer was engaged only when I used the eraser tool. I never got the stabilizer as being a function available to many, if not all brushes.

Thanks again for sharing.

Hello Everyone, I don't know why suddenly my eraser became gray, and paints grey. Though both Color circles are White, yet still it paints gray. I tried on different background, i also tried restarting the software, still its GREY!! HELP!!! (talking about Affinity Designer)
