janetes
Hi. Working in Affinity Designer. The selection brush works fine to select an area until I accidentally rotate the image with two fingertips on the trackpad. After that, the brush won't select. I've tried deselecting, going back in the history, making sure it's in Add mode, inverting pixels, stepping backwards to before that point, and selecting various layers. Nothing gets it working again and I can't figure it out. When this rotation happens, the history says : Raster Smart Selection Brush End Drag. Thank you for any suggestions. h_d
I can confirm the same thing happens to me in Photo too. It appears that the 'marching ants' round the selection are hidden: if you use the selection brush on a rotated image, you don't see the selection border, but when you hit delete... (I've always wanted to be able to hide the selection border in Photo - like you can in another photo editing program - but this isn't what I had in mind...) h_d
... I think the solution is NOT to accidentally rotate the image with the track pad. janetes
Not rotating the photo is the only answer I've found, glad I'm not alone. Once it's rotated, it's the point of no return. Something is going on because you find these odd selected areas you can't recall selecting and can't get rid of or work around. Thanks for responding! janetes
That would be a great solution. Looks in it's in Photo but I don't see it in Designer. It should be that simple.
Staff MEB Posted February 20, 2018 Staff Share Posted February 20, 2018 Hi janetes, The marching ants disappearing is a known issue that was already fixed in the latest Beta/GM. There's no point in downloading it since we already submitted the final/retail version to the Mac App Store (which includes this fix). It should be out as soon as Apple approves it. It should be that simple. If you mean View menu > Reset rotation, it is there in both Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo.
