I downloaded the windows trial version and it is very slow to open up 24mp  raw files. I checked the forums and saw a discussion about this over a year ago. Is there any windows version updates?

Hi cdw86,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

What camera/model are you using? A few RAW formats may take more time than others. How much time it takes to open the RAW on your system? Note that we don't show any preview while the RAW file is loading as other software does. We load and display the file directly.

I use Affinity 1.6.3.100 (Beta) and 1.6.2.97.
Loading RAW files takes longer than jpg or tif files, but that's no problem for me because I use Capture One anyway for RAW development.
Affinity is an excellent image editing software that I use very often, but in my view was not created for RAW development.

I am using Windows 10 and Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104. The opening of a NEF file still takes 35 seconds. This is already an old topic and until today it has not solved a new version of Affinity Photo.

For me it is 8 secs for CR2 (50 megapixel) and 12 secs for RAF (16 megapixel)

Both PC’s Win 11 x64 System
PC1 ASUS ROG Strix - AMD Ryzen 9 6900X CPU @ 3.3GHz. 32GB RAM

- GPU 1: AMD Radeon integrated. GPU 2: NVIDIA RTX 3060, 6GB
PC2 ASUS ProArt  PZ13 - Snapdragon X Plus X1P42100 (8 CPUs), 16GB RAM
- Neural Processor - Qualcomm® Hexagon™ NPU up to 45TOPS

Opening a NEF file 6036x4020 px, 24.26 MP:

Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104 takes 30 seconds
Capture one 10.2.1.22 takes 2 seconds
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC Version 7.2 takes 2 seconds

I do not confirm this,
here the loading times under Windows 10 (version 1709-64 bit
Nikon D850   NEF file 8288 x 5520 ca 60 MM   10 secs
Nikon D3400 NEF file 6016 x 4016  ca 23 MB     7 secs
I think that's ok

I also use Lightroom Classic CC, please keep in mind,
that Lightroom first import the RAW data,
after that the data will only be left to read from a catalog (or cache),
and it only gets the embedded JPG file shown.
CAPTURE ONE I can not judge.
Affinity Photo shows no embedded JPG files, but loads the RAW file directly into the memory.

Then they have a particularly fast computer ... And I believe that wire would like to use AffinityPhoto professionäl ... In many contributions, the problem with NEF files is equally problematized.

On the latest release 1.6.4.104 Windows Store version it take 12 secs on a 24Mp CR2 Canon Raw on my secondary PC (i3, 8Gb RAM)

Panasonic GH5, RW2, Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104.

- Extremely slow file opening (Photoshop is faster). But that's the smallest problem.
- High CPU Usage.
- Slower response.
- Camera Raw vs. Develop Persona - different colors, contrast, etc. (Why?)

By the way, Is there any auto adjustments in Develop Persona? Assistant Manager? I do not see any adjustments ... Nothing.

Sometimes it happens that I edit the file, save a click Develop button. I will see the file untouched (or with fewer modifications).

I'm trying, but I can not get used to Develop Persona :-(

A mnoho dalšího. Všechno fungovalo velmi rychle.
Velikost 4,88MB Je to možné??

RawShooter Essentials + Affinity Foto = můj sen :D

I have an SSD drive and a RAF takes 40secs.

Lower times seem to be gained by having a "pcie SSD" !

That's the future.

On my ageing ASUS ROG G750JS laptop (bought July 2014) from double clicking a Pentax 16MB .DNG raw file APh launches and opens the file in 13 sec. That time includes APh loading 537 active fonts (and whatever else it needs to do).

Opening the same .DNG from inside APh takes just under 4 sec (ie File > Open Recent).

Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4Ghz (Turbo 3.4 GHz) Quad-core Processor (4th Gen)

1.5TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 256 GB Solid-State Drive (APh 1.6.4.104 installed on SSD)

17-Inch screen, GeForce GTX 870M 3GB
