Line Drawing in Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

No beside those you already named there aren't other line tools, just shapes. However if you use the pen tool click for a starting point and Shift-click for an endpoint should give you straight lines. Altering the line settings (top option bar) allows you to set lines up as dashed lines etc.

Seems simple to me in Designer. When one chooses the pen, the control dialog controls show up in the context menu for fill and stroke and color. One may select what kind of line the nodes make from the mode portion of the bar. If you would like to have specific kinds of lines, define styles, and apply them as you need.

The Stroke panel in Affinity Designer has similar controls to the ones you're used to on the Line tab in PagePlus. Draw your two connected lines with the Pen Tool by clicking on the canvas at the start point, Shift-clicking where you want the corner to be, and then Shift-clicking at the desired end point. If you keep the line selected, go to the Stroke panel and change the cap style from 'Round Cap' to 'Butt Cap', you should find that the result is very similar to what we can see in your PDF attachment.

I've never used PagePlus but it's very easy in Designer to draw your line(s). Press the Shift key to constrain the line to vertical, horizontal etc as you draw.

Use the Pen Tool in Polygon mode (or single line)

Click on the line on the Context Toolbar

to open the Stroke panel and set the line "Style:" to dashes and set the "Cap:" to square so you get square dashes, like your line.

The Dash entry boxes control the length of the dashes and the gap of the spaces between them. You should only need the first two boxes.

The Phase shuffles the position of the dashes along the line.
