Rodney47
I'm trying to open the practice files for the tutorial, "Search the Woods" by Bodo Bertuleit. When I try to open the files I am told that I don't have permission to open these files. I've had the same problem with some of the other tutorials in the workbook. But, if I tried enough times they eventually opened. Not so with these files. Also, I set up a practice document from this same tutorial. I created a practice folder on my hard drive. When I tried to save the practice document, I was told that I didn't have permission to save here. It's my @#$%! computer. What's going on? emmrecs01
@Rodney47 I think Callum needs the exact location of that folder on your computer! i.e., something like C:\Users\{Your User Name}\ ... It is possible that whichever location you have currently chosen has some sort of access permissions problem and that is what he is trying to help you with. It is also quite possible that you have not had these problems previously but a recent Windows update might have tried to change permissions to something which it (Windows) considers "safer" or "more suitable", even if you are quite happy to keep the old settings! From his previous posts, Rodney seems to be a Mac user. However, the same principle obviously applies! Rodney47
Yes I am a Mac user. I've created my folder as follows, rodneybrown\Affinity Completed Tuts. I assume the rodneybrown corresponds to what would be the C: drive on a PC. I have tried saving other files from Affinity Photo to this same folder and have had no problems. It's only when I try to save the tutorial files that I have modified that I have a problem. I bought this workbook from Amazon USA. As far as I know, my copy of Affinity Photos is registered. I bought it through the App Store and created an account with Affinity.

Your folder is probably somewhere in your user account's home folder, the folder that Finder displays with a House icon & your short user name, which could be just Rodney, rodneybrown, or something else. One way to determine where your Affinity Completed Tuts folder is located is to select (highlight) it in Finder & from the File menu select "Get Info" ( or use the keyboard shortcut CMD + i). You should see a "Where:" line in the info window with something that probably begins with Macintosh HD ▸ Users ▸ followed by your short user name, whatever it is. 4 hours ago, Rodney47 said: I have tried saving other files from Affinity Photo to this same folder and have had no problems. If instead you mean that you can't save some of them after modifying them, this could be because they are write protected, which was done by Serif to protect the author's copyright. You cannot change this but you should be able to save a copy of the file if you follow the workbook steps exactly.
