chris.bannu Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Hi guys, I know Affinity doesn't have a Feather option, but is there anything similar? I need to apply something similar to Feather on a vector object, and I need it NOT to be rasterized in Photoshop. I tried the Gaussian Blur in Affinity, but that rasterizes the object on export. Anyone know a way or some workaround? Thank you, Chris Quote
firstdefence Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 What about a Fill - Gradient with Opacity set to 100% one end and 0% set the other, where you need the feather, obviously this wouldn't work very well on contours like S shaped objects, but on ellipse, etc might be workable. chris.bannu Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Hi firstdefence, Thanks for taking the time for making the file. That is a great idea for simple shapes, but for creating a more complex shadow it doesn't really work, since for such a shadow, you have to use the gradient for color. I really hope Affinity will get this update Cheers, Chris Quote
Staff MEB Posted February 1, 2018 Staff Posted February 1, 2018 Hi chris.bannu, No sure if this helps but you can use/create a mask (raster) to feather the vector object. You shouldn't have issues opening the file in Photoshop if you save as PSD. The vector object will be kept as vector as the mask should remain as a raster mask. chris.bannu Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Hi MEB, Thanks for the tip, unfortunately the ideal scenario is to keep everything editable Mask and masked object. Cheers, Chris edit: how can I try what you suggested? I'm trying, but I can't seem to figure it out Thank you kindly edit 2: I think I managed to do it (create 2 shapes, add gaussian blur to one of them and raster it, select Mask To Below). Is that what you meant? Quote
