Affinity Photo Perlin noise as a live filter

Recommended Posts

I have been experimenting with using the perlin noise filter in Photo and it is very nice to have a perlin noise filter right within photo.  However if it could be done as a live filter with a few improvements would be awesome.

  1. Add the ability to stretch the noise
  2. Add the ability to angle the noise

Here is an example of an effect I did using the perlin filter, it was a bit complex and I would love to be able to go back in and just adjust the noise without having to completely re do the whole thing

Adding a pixel layer with a suitable blend mode and then Appling the Perlin Noise to that, may give you a bit more flexibility to alter the effect afterwards

By modifying such things as the Pixel layer's Opacity, Masking parts of the effect, Stretching and Rotating the pixel layer and adding adjustments/effects directly to this layer.

You can also duplicate the layer to increase the initial Perlin effect if needed.

The attached screenshot is just to show the extra degree of flexibility you can have by using a separate pixel layer rather than having the effect baked into the image
