Is it possible to do this PS "mixer brush" technique in Affinity Designer/Photo ?

Recommended Posts

Here's a brush that might do the trick, but it's not quite the same as your example:

However, with a little adjusting you might still be able to use it.

It's for AffDesigner.

Choose "Import brush" in brushes panel.

Smoothness depends on how fast you draw, the slower the smoother.

For colours, adjust the gradient or create a new gradient to your liking.

Has anyone been able to do this in Affinity Photo/Designer?

I think this is related to the original question above. In Photoshop you can use the "Paint Mixer Brush" and hold down "option" (Mac) to select an object and then paint with it. Can you do this in Affinity?

Welcome to the forums.
You can do a similar thing by exporting a layer which contains what you want to paint with, then using that image to create a new Image Brush. It’s probably not as quick as in Photoshop but I think it will do what you want.
I made a video of this somewhere in the forums but I can’t remember where it is.

Edit: I’ve attached a new quick video – couldn’t find the other one – which takes you through the steps to make an Image Brush.
The same workflow can be used in both Designer and Photo.
