BeB Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 In order to draw 3D-like shapes, this guy samples a gradient and paints with this gradient as a brush in PS CC. Is this in any way possible in Aff. Design or Photo? Quote
Staff stokerg Posted January 24, 2018 Staff Posted January 24, 2018 Hi BeB, Affinity Photo has a Paint Mixer Brush (you can get the trial from here). But this is mainly used for mixing paint colours so is different to the PS one. I also can't see a way to sample the gradient or paint with it. Quote
catlover Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Here's a brush that might do the trick, but it's not quite the same as your example: However, with a little adjusting you might still be able to use it. It's for AffDesigner. Choose "Import brush" in brushes panel. Smoothness depends on how fast you draw, the slower the smoother. For colours, adjust the gradient or create a new gradient to your liking. Misc.afbrushes Quote
MGMA Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Has anyone been able to do this in Affinity Photo/Designer? I think this is related to the original question above. In Photoshop you can use the "Paint Mixer Brush" and hold down "option" (Mac) to select an object and then paint with it. Can you do this in Affinity? Quote
GarryP Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 (edited) Welcome to the forums. You can do a similar thing by exporting a layer which contains what you want to paint with, then using that image to create a new Image Brush. It’s probably not as quick as in Photoshop but I think it will do what you want. I made a video of this somewhere in the forums but I can’t remember where it is. Edit: I’ve attached a new quick video – couldn’t find the other one – which takes you through the steps to make an Image Brush. The same workflow can be used in both Designer and Photo. 2020-05-04_14-12-15.mp4 Edited May 4, 2020 by GarryP Added video. AJackson, kat and MGMA 3 Quote
