As part of some upcoming development work, we would like to test our software with a huge variation of camera images, and we’re hoping that some of you may be able to contribute to these efforts. We would like to receive the following files, in order of preference:

  1. RAW + OOC JPEG (Out Of Camera, i.e. the JPEG as written by your camera, with no modifications)
  2. RAW
  3. OOC JPEG

We aren’t interested in receiving JPEG images from RAW files that have been developed in software.

If you upload any images, we will never use them for marketing material, we will never share them outside of Serif, and no-one outside of the development department will have access to them. They will be used purely for development and testing purposes.

Please upload your images via Dropbox File Request:

https://www.dropbox.com/request/Z0QnvXPKfbUNCvbNKxU5

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support, and will now leave you to speculate upon what this upcoming development work is for…

Uploaded 2 files, 1 raw and the JPEG (both original out of the camera) that was made by the camera. Nikon D3200.

Hope this is what you want. If you need more i can send more of course.

kind regards

Arnold Kruithof

Hi phaupt1982,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Thanks for your submission. Note that if you are using a Mac running macOS High Sierra and change the RAW engine used by Affinity Photo to Apple (Core Image RAW) these files will load correctly without the pink/purple colours.

Unfortunately not, I'm on Win10x64

@Mark IngramI generally shoot with a Fujifilm X100F, and have it set to "RAW + JPEG", so I have plenty of example images to contribute. One of the distinctive features of Fujifilm cameras is their film simulations – allowing you to pick a particular look for your SOOC JPEG. Some of these are pretty subtle changes, but some are quite distinct (such as the B&W conversions and the 'classic chrome' mode).

For this project, do you prefer to receive examples just using the "Provia" setting (ie. the default), or is a variety of RAW/JPEG pairs better?

Oh, I like to speculate: Only unprocessed files from cameras are wanted, because you do not want to loose internal metadata like maker notes and you want to get real raw data instead of some linear DNGs or similiar. This is usefull for:

1) Testing and improving the raw engine (Needed for Demosaicing, Noise Reduction, Lens Correction, Lens Sharpness, etc). Also needed for regression and performance tests to measure how development goes.

2) Implementing a DAM / LR like tool, which imports OOC JPEGs and RAWs. (Here especially the preview generation and metadata extraction could be tested). If I would develop this, I would use LibRaw for previews and an ExifTool wrapper for metadata.

Cold, Warm or Hot? :-)

No. They just bought a new dart board

Hi Mark,

just uploaded 3 RAW+OOC jpgs from my Canon EOS-6D. Contains two night shots at higher ISO with stars. I've switched off all exposure and noise manipulation within the camera.

It would be great, if affinity photo RAW-development could show the auto-focus points that the camera used. Canons dpp can do this. This is quite helpful if you want to find out autofocus problems for example. (Perhaps it available yet, pls let me know. Thank you.)

Nice!

I'm uploading Canon EOS 70D and Fuji XE-Pro1, Fuji XE-2s and Fuji XT-1 files. All of then only in RAW or RAF (by fuji).

Actually is just a few programs over there to open those RAF Files. Nikon and Canon shooters are used to open their images in every app. But Fuji photographers are pushed against only two or three programs. You will make a decisive leap developing support to Fuji's RAF.

Hi @Mi.Ke, in Develop Persona, you can view the Focus Panel, which has an option, 'Show AF Regions'.
