Call for Camera Images

Hi Mark,

you are lucky because I currently have a lot of original images still lingering on my HDD. Among I found RAW+OOJ pairs for

  • Canon EOS 650D
  • Nikon D750 + 2 lenses
  • Olympus XZ-2
  • Panasonic G81 (aka G80/G85) + 2 lenses

I am uploding a selection of this zoo of models/lenses. Will take an hour or so with my slow upload speed ...

I could even provide raw images from a Lytro Illum if you like... ;)

As part of some upcoming development work, we would like to test our software with a huge variation of camera images, and we’re hoping that some of you may be able to contribute to these efforts. We would like to receive the following files, in order of preference:

  1. RAW + OOC JPEG (Out Of Camera, i.e. the JPEG as written by your camera, with no modifications)
  2. RAW
  3. OOC JPEG

You can download RAW and OOC JPEG for any possible camera from the web sites that review them. For example, if you go to DPReview and open the "Sample Images" menu, you can download jpeg and raw samples.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support, and will now leave you to speculate upon what this upcoming development work is for…

I really hope that you are working on an alternative to Lightroom...

@Mark Ingram

By asking us you know that you're working with photos from people who really use AP – I think that's a plus.

How is it looking? I could switch my camera from jpeg to jpeg&raw, if that would still help.

Yes, we wanted images that were representative of our customer's equipment. The response has been fantastic so far, we received a lot of images! If you would like to contribute, there is still plenty of storage on our Dropbox account :-).

If you really make an Affinity Darktable, please consider:

Hierarchical Collections, Smart Collections, Possibility to display photos in a whole directory subtree, XMP Import/Export, Batch Metadata Editing, Hierarchical Keywords, Search by Metadata Tags, Pass raws to external development tools (not as tiff), Stacks, Virtual Copies, Autostacking Raws and (jpeg/tiff)-versions using Regex on name or metadata, Token based batch renaming and destination folder definition on import and inside catalog.

There are so many companies like On1, that bring out only partially usable DAM solutions.

DAM.... its about time! Can’t wait to have an Affinity competitor to LR; hopefully along the lines of Aperture more-so than LR...

@Mark Ingram If you need some inspiration, have a look on IMatch. Not from the usability and visual design point of view, but from its capabilities and the possibility to be used with different raw development tools. Looking at it, Lightroom becomes really limited. Especially the metadata, version and buddy file handling are unique. Maybe this can help to make the right decissions. Wish you good luck.
