Resize proportionally via object handlers

Recommended Posts

There's a small problem when resizing an object by dragging the handlers. When you use the corner handlers, sometimes you have to hold SHIFT to resize an object proportionally, other times you have to avoid holding SHIFT to resize it proportionally. Every time it's different :)

Cheers,

Chris

Do you have any specific examples, or do we need to guess at what you were doing?

By default, objects which have a ‘natural’ aspect ratio (e.g. images) will retain their proportions when resized without the use of the Shift modifier, but other objects will not. You can change this behaviour via the ‘Move Tool Aspect Constrain’ setting in Preferences.

What happened to me was this: I opened a few svg files in AD. An then I copy/pasted them into my project. For every svg, the resize handlers would behave differently. For some of them I had to hold SHIFT to have them resize proportionally, for others, if I would hold SHIFT, I would get the opposite result. I don't have a file, but I will try to create one :)

@Alfred Where is this setting, I can't find it in Preferences

Sorry, Chris, I should have been more specific: it's in the Tools section (rather than the User Interface section where you might reasonably expect to find it).
