VivianP Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I want to export files to a flash drive on my iPad. There are several flash drives that have both lightning and usb plugs but I don't know if Affinity will recognize any of them. If I can't export directly is there a roundabout way, exporting to another application and then to the flash drive. I need to export jpg but would also like to export psd or raw. I'm looking for brand names of flash drives that work with Affinity. Quote
ReO2 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I use the Leef brand.... my experience to this point is that you can directly open a file from this flash drive right into affinity photo but you must save the file first to the iPad and then to the drive... I hope this will change in the the future to allow you to save directly to the flash drive because you get a lot of extra files floating around Quote
VivianP Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 ReO2, Thanks for the quick response. How do you save to the iPad? I understand that Affinity doesn't allow you to save a jpg to Photo, so where do you put the file? Quote
ReO2 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Export from the menu panel (top left where it looks like a page with a folded corner) then share from the bottom left and you will have choice where to save Paul Mudditt 1 Quote
VivianP Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 excuse me for being dense, I know how to share but don't know which apps are compatible with the flash drive. Where do you share to? Thanks. Quote
ReO2 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 The lightning flash drive will have its own app to allow transfers. Different brands will have their own app and I’ve only used the Leef one Quote

I understand that Affinity doesn't allow you to save a jpg to Photo, so where do you put the file? Saving a jpg to photo is simple if you can open photo app next to AP. Go to export screen, tap and hold jpeg then drag and drop into Camera roll. Works for me. Paul Mudditt 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Paul Mudditt Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Selecting Save Image under the share button goes direct to photos, it may not be visible at first but you can reorder your share options by selecting the three dots ... VivianP Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks for the info. I've tried saving both ways and they both work for me. VivianP Paul Mudditt 1 Quote
