Customise Tools missing content

Recommended Posts

When selecting View, Customise Tools, there are only 6 tools available for selection to add to the tool bar:

View, Zoom, Red Eye Removal, Blemish Removal, Overlay paint, Overlay Erase, Overlay Gradient, Crop, White Balance.

For example the Clone tool is not available to add to the left tool bar. Running version 1.6.6 on High Sierra 10.13.2

Hi Michael Poole,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

These are the only tools available while you are in Develop Persona. This is the Persona where all RAW files open by default and where you usually perform major/global adjustments (exposure, shadow/detail recovery etc) before the RAW is converted to a processed image for further editing (local adjustments, filters, masks and all usual photo editing tools/operations) in Photo Persona (clicking the blue Develop button as shown on your screenshot). You will then see all the tools you are expecting there. You can think of Personas as specialised workspaces - the Photo Persona is the first icon below the traffic lights on the top left of the app's interface. As you can see in your screenshot you have the third one selected (Develop Persona) which is where the RAW files open as explained above.

For more info about Personas check this video tutorial: Discover Affinity Photo.

For additional video tutorials check this thread: Official Affinity Photo (Desktop) Video Tutorials.

Thank you for the quick response. Being previously used to Photoshop, it takes a little time to adjust to the new methods in Affinity.

This was my first use of the software, and I immediately wanted to use it clone something out, so I was surprised not to see the clone tool straight away.

I see now that the first stage in Affinity is similar to the camera raw first stage in Photoshop.

I guess that I might have guessed this was the case if I had seen a greyed out clone icon, instead of no trace of the icon at all - while still in raw undeveloped mode.
