How to fix a blown out spot on my pic with affinity photo

Hi.
I tried this.
I made a new layer and cloned the other wing, and flipped the layer 90 degrees vertical. Used the transfer tool to fit it over the highlight.
Used the Average blending mode to preserve the shadow/light.
I added a mask and painted out part of the wing. And used the inpainting brush to get rid og the wing from the other bird.
This is just a quick job, I'm sure you can do it better if you use more time.
