pixelinkmedia
Figured it out... its when you ADD a 2nd artboard. It stays on web only after the 1st, but after the 2nd, it reverts to Print
v_kyr
Strange, not for me ... Used a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 px initial Web doc setting there. Then placed two 800x600 px Artboards on that. - Now the doc settings keeped locked on Web, but changed the initial Web doc pixel size settings! pixelinkmedia
Hmmm.... how is this possible?
v_kyr
I've added some more explanation to my previous posting! Though if I then switch to the export persona just the last artboard2 is there created as a slice and I would have to manually add the first one (artboard1) also as a slice then. - So it doesn't autogenerate all artboards as slices then when switching over to the export persona! Pretty weird the whole! pixelinkmedia
Well, it's not working for me. Here is my initial setup
pixelinkmedia
Here is after clicking the Artboard Tool and Adding two boards. I have tried manually creating artboard and using the Insert Artboard button on top NOT WORKING
v_kyr
Hmm I see you are on Windows, I tried under MacOS instead, not sure if it makes any behaviour difference here since usually it shouldn't! Well, could be. I am sure they have 2 running dev code-bases for each platform Well, I left a bug report. I am off to do other things. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!!! v_kyr
Ok there seems to be much room left for improvements here for the whole, also among the platform behaviour then. - My last try with three manually created Artboards were nearly the same as sketched above before, the whole locked up on "Web" doc page settings for me under OSX, it didn't reverted to "Print" here ... Note that there is then after setting up the Artboards manually also some discrepancy to the overall initial setup Web document size shown, which initially had been 1920 x 1200 px instead of the now 1312 x 1180 px. I have to manually do the "Slices" Yeah... it would be nice to just convert one doc to another. Depending on how "manual" you had to get, I think I can save you some time. More about that in a sec. This is a weird bug. Yes, I think, a bug. Re-stating the problem here: Seems like AD brings in pages of a pdf as "(Artboard)"s. But... the Export persona doesn't automatically recognize each artboard as a slice. The Print vs Web designation in this case is meaningless... Unless bringing in a "Web" designated pdf is fine for you..... I can't seem to do that. Every pdf is borked. What I can do is... No matter what you bring in, web, print, device etc, reconstituting the slices, and no matter how many "pages" you have, is just about a 4 click procedure. 'bout 5/10 seconds. Not to say that this...bug... shouldn't be corrected . So, until the time that the bug is sorted out. Open your file. Select ALL your "Artboards", switch to export persona (make sure the arrow tool is selected), right click and select "Create Slice". Done. It's Miller time! v_kyr
Creating the export slices manually isn't the main problem here, since it can be forced to be done and I think the OP already knows how to do that. The overall weird things are more the strange document type setup behavings and platform related differences here. I have to manually do the "Slices" I am not sure what you mean by manually here, but if you only get a single slice in the Export Persona "Slices" tab, just click on the "Layers" tab, select all of the artboards, & click the "Create Slice" button: Then go back to the "Slices" tab & export whichever ones you want. It stays on web only after the 1st, but after the 2nd, it reverts to Print It really doesn't matter what it says after "Type:" in the Document setup window. As you may have noticed, once you create a document with even one artboard, "Type:" is greyed out, as are most of the other fields in the window. That is because if a document includes an artboard, all the greyed out fields effectively become per artboard ones (like "Dimensions:"), which are set on that basis in other parts of the UI. Besides, the "Web Page" document type only makes sense for a multiple artboard document if you are exporting the entire document as a single file -- a web page is a page, & as such does not have 'subpages.'
