Errol Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 When will we be able to use text functions in macros? Quote
John Rostron Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 What do you mean by a 'text function'? John Quote Windows 11, Affinity Photo 2.4.2 Designer 2.4.2 and Publisher 2.4.2 (mainly Photo). Errol Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 I need to watermark stuff I send to Facebook with my name. In PS I would just use an F-key to invoke an action to put a text layer in so I could move it etc. Affinity tells me that I can not use a text function in a macro. My workaround is to put the text on a blank doc and copy and paste but that is slower. Quote

IanSG Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I haven't tried it myself, but this might help. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10
Errol Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 Using a brush might work but then I would have to change the brush back etc. When I'm working on 50+ files I would rather have a one key response. Quote
v_kyr Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Hmm what's about reusing a ready made PNG one then, maybe you can use that together with a macro? - Meaning here to build up your signature text on a transparent background and store the whole as a PNG or GIF file, which you then try to reuse in a macro for sizing and positioning. In short instead of a text layer try to use an image/pixel layer. Errol Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 What I would like is to see Serif add the ability to make a text layer in macros they way I can in PS. Any chance of that in the next version? Your solution would work but I will stick with my workaround. Loading an Affinity file with the text layer. Copying the layer. Pasting it on my work. Quote
v_kyr Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Can't tell you if "using text layers in macros" is actually a highly important point on the todo list of the devs for the next release version. So far I even don't know what their macros implementation generally can do here and what not, since the overall macro functionality of what is recordable and what not isn't documented at all yet. - In other words here, you have to ask the devs here, or hope that someone of them can tell you for sure.
