Wizaerd
I've been able to do some basic text on a path, but trying to get something specific seems a bit more daunting. I guess it's because the little green and/or red icons aren't really explained well. For example, how do you put text on the inside of a path, but not reversed? How do you move it further away from the actual path itself while maintaining the path shape? Could someone explain the text on a path other than just draw a shape and click on it? Something a bit more about controlling the actual text on the path?
Staff MEB Posted December 26, 2017 Staff Share Posted December 26, 2017 Hi Wizaerd, What are you trying to achieve in particular? Can you post a sample image? You can use the Baseline control in the context toolbar to move the text away from the path. You can also use the same control to move the text to inside the path without reversing it. Use Tracking and Kerning controls from the Paragraph panel to fine tune the text if needed. Wizaerd
I don't have an image anymore, I eventually just gave up on it. But I tried to have someone's first name on the top outer side of an elipse, with the last name along the inside path bottom of the (duplicated) ellipse. I couldn't get the name on the inside bottom to go where I wanted it...
Staff MEB Posted December 26, 2017 Staff Share Posted December 26, 2017 Hi Wizaerd, You can use two ellipses for that. See the clip below (no sound): Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Wizaerd
Thanks for that, but how do I put a word or text on the inside bottom of the path?
Staff MEB Posted December 26, 2017 Staff Share Posted December 26, 2017 Place the cursor before the text you have just entered and press Enter. It should jump to the bottom of the ellipse (inside). Use the Baseline control to position it above or below the path if needed. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

DavidF
Thank you.... I was trying to do exactly that. I am trying to abandon a programme I've used for years and am almost there... adirusf
