DAUB_Kraken_Cover2.jpg

This set include:

DAUB Calamus - 28 Tools

A set of textured inkers, with pressure and other dynamic responsiveness.

Different nibs, bristles and behaviours to create catchy and vibrant strokes. This set is usable in Affinity Designer too!

DAUB Asper - 34 Tools

A set of dry media, with rough look and feel. Pressure and other dynamics are there to make anything look dramatically analog.

This set is usable in Affinity Designer too!

DAUB Moiré - 52 Tools

A set including linocut and grunge textured rakes, ideal to create engraved styles.

This set also includes a terrific collection of halftone patterns and stippling textures working with pressure.

You'll see the density increasing with pressure and building up strokes too.

Grab the stroke guide here

Please note that some brushes could act different on iOS version of AP.

Yep... Basically grey levels are so light that AD/AP cannot render it, but those brushes work perfectly.

I will submit this to Affinity devs!

I’m trying to resist the temptation to treat myself to these lovely brushes, by asking myself how much I would really use them, but I can see my resolve crumbling before the day is over!

I love this selection of brushes. It's definitely worth picking up this set if you're a painter or want to add a personal feel to your designs.

Does anyone else notice though that some of these brushes are really taxing on the engine if you paint too fast? Any idea how I can speed things up? I know I can raise spacing, but then that kinda destroys the appeal to some of the textures.

A very useful brush set regardless and very well made.

If there's two types of assets I find it strangely difficult to refuse, they're brushes and fonts. Oh dear.

Thanks for the sweet deal :) Merry Christmas!

Yes, this is true for Calamus set in particular, because of spacing and hi-res textures.

This set is designed for inking and I crafted it to have the very best quality in strokes together with stabilistation.

If you want to speed things up a bit and you're using AP you can double click and change assigned tool to Pixel Tool.

Or if you're using AD just select the Pixel Tool and choose your ink.

Beware: this procedure causes the loss of the richness in texture and antialias in some cases.

This is a quick sample I did using AD and DAUB Herbert from Calamus set

And this is how I completed it using Dynamic Ink Diluted and one of the papers available in my Essential pack.

Mine crumbled instantly.

A little something I noticed is that, at leas in my case, there are two brushes that don't show the preview on the Brushes Panel.

I don't mind it that much but it's just something I noticed.

Best regards!

Hi!

As I said above I cannot do anything there since it seems to me a bug of the application itself.

As you can see the Brush Editor correctly represents the preview whereas Studio doesn't

Sorry for this but I guess we all have to wait for the Affinity team to fix it.

Otherwise you could raise flow up, but the effect of this brush will change...

Ahh, sorry, I didn't read that with enough attention. As I said, I don't mind it that much.

Also, thank you for the quality brushes you made.

Best regards!

Shame on me, you're totally right.

Thank you for your feedback.

I use to cross-install the brush set between my versions of AP/AD/AP for iOS before releasing it, and in one of these steps I have missed something.

So I've uploaded the wrong package in the store... :$

You and all purchasers should have received the update.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Perhaps this file needs updating too: DAUB_Kraken_Guide.pdf

I see on pages about Calamus only 24 brush preview (and 26 names — 2 names without preview)

Well, a must have, anyway, as sooner or later, the performance of the AP's (and AD's) brush engine will be improved.  :)  (or if anything, our machines... ;D )

Congrats for your constant, excellent work, Paolo.  :)

Yes, definitely. I can say after using for more time, it's one of the best brush sets I've ever owned. I dig it
