Hey all.

I am a photographer who maily works for small and medium bussines and does product and portraits. I also do some graphical design (folders, window dressing for shops and so on).

I am currently an adobe CC user. I am thinking of switching over. My current use-case is Lightroom for raw, PS for editing, indesign for layout work and AI for graphic design.

I was thinking about the following setup: Affinity photo as a PS replacement, Afinity design as an AI replacement and Publisher as an indesign replacement. I'll probably run the two programs together for a year or so to make transition possible.

The questions i still have are the following:

- i can install Adobe CC on my desktop and my laptop with a single license. is this also possible with affinity?

- is affinity able to import pdf presets or do make presets in the program myself?

- does affinity photo have a content aware fill tool and an selection tool based on color like PS?

- Can affinity work in 30 bit color aka nvidia quadro cards

- Wich software would you guys reccomend for a lightroom replacement. My main use of LR is for tethering and catalogue features, but tbh im tired of the lag in LR

Thanks in advance for the advice

Hi Fomadex,

Welcome to the forums :)

Thank you for your interest in Affinity I recommend downloading our free trials from our websites to make sure this is the app for you!

  1. You can install the app onto both your laptop and desktop!
  2. Affinity Can't import PDF  presets I'm afraid.
  3.  You can create a content aware fill by making a selection and going to Edit > Inpaint you can also select by colour in Affinity by going to Select > Select Sample Colours.
  4.  As far as I'm Affinity can't work with 30bit colour I'm afraid but hopefully a developer will correct me if I'm wrong!
  5. We don't have any specific DAM apps that we recommend but hopefully some other forum users will comment with advice regarding what they use!

Thanks

C

Hey,

Thanks for the reply.

1: thats a good thing

2: importing pdf's is a nice to have but something i can do manually if need be (or write in to a macro). Testing will tell ofcourse ;)

3: Thats good.

4: thats kind of a dealbreaker to me. Maybe one of your devs could indeed answer that one.

5: i have been looking around last night and phaseone looks promising. So there is that :-)
