Will Cain Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I know I'm a bit late to the party but... a lot of videos I've watched show the file toolbar appearing and disappearing. How do I get this setting on I can't see anything vaguely like it in preferences. I'd like to do this because on my screen the bottom icon on the left hand side is barely showing as though my screen isn't quite tall enough. If I could make the icons slightly smaller that might solve it but that doesn't seem to be an option eithor Cheers and Merry Christmas Quote
Staff MEB Posted December 17, 2017 Staff Posted December 17, 2017 Hi Will Cain, Welcome to Affinity Forums This is a functionality provided by the macOS itself (on Apple Macs) not Affinity Photo and as such is not available on Windows: clicking on the green circle on the top left of the application window will switch the program to Full Screen mode (macOS only). Will Cain Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Thanks, buying a Mac to get this feature probably isn't going to happen. Any ideas on making the icons smaller? Cheers Quote
Staff MEB Posted December 18, 2017 Staff Posted December 18, 2017 Hi Will Cain, Currently there's no way/settings in Affinity Photo/Designer to change the size of the icons sorry. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Are you referring to the bottom icon on the Tools Panel? If so, you can customize what appears in it, including the number of columns it uses, via the View menu > "Customize Tools..." item. Using two or more columns should shorten it enough that no icon is at the bottom of the screen & as a 'bonus' you get an always present color swatch chooser like the one in the Color Studio panel. For example, this is the customized two column Tools Panel I sometimes use with Affinity Designer's Draw Persona: Note also that like all the other panels this can be undocked so you can move it to any convenient screen location on the fly as you work.
