Staff MEB Posted December 14, 2017 Staff Share Posted December 14, 2017 Hi Mark G, Welcome to Affinity Forums The Grade UI Kit is a set of pre-assembled elements (icons/controls/user interface bars etc) that you can use to quickly build graphical user interfaces for applications. You can access these elements from the Assets panel in Affinity Designer (menu View ▸ Studio ▸ Assets). Check this page for instructions on how to install the Grade UI Kit so you can have it available in the Assets panel. Keep a copy of the original zip file in case i n you need to re-install them later/in the future. Here's instructions on how to install font on Windows (although the support article is for Windows 7 and 8 it also applies to Windows 10). They are imported within the program and stored inside the app folder for you. So for example to install the assets (located in the Assets folder after you unzip the downloaded file), go to the Assets panel, click the small menu icon on the top right of the panel, select Import Assets..., select the .afassets file in the unzipped folder (in the Finder dialog that will appear and click Open. The assets will then appear as a new category selectable from the dropdown on the top of the panel. Similar process for the palettes files (go to the Swatches panel, click the small menu icon on the top right of the panel and select Import Palette...). The other items provided (UI Sheets and Sample) are not intended to be imported into any panel but to copy/paste to your document when you need them (UI Sheets) or just to understand how a user interface is built (Sample). nicolleen Posted October 3, 2018 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Hi, thanks for your reply, now it´s becoming clear. Nevertheless, I´m sorry, I have searched everywhere, I can´t find an "assets panel". Do you mean my general panels like brushes etc.? I can import styles, brushes and so on. But no assets anywhere to be seen. When I got this kit along with the programme for free, I thought it was some kind of an asset collection. MickRose Posted October 3, 2018 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Hi Nicolleen - the assets studio is in View/Studio/Assets. Its a sort of visual storage area for items (images, shapes etc) that you might need to use frequently. I've found it really useful though it does take a bit of getting used to and you'd need to organise it to your requirements. I do a lot of leaflet design & these often need facebook logos etc, fancy borders, graphic elements. Once you you have one of these on the page/artboard you can store it as an asset and use it for future jobs.
