It is because unlike Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo is primarily intended for raster (pixel) based documents, so what you see is the rasterized vectors, including anti-aliased edges that look fuzzy. If you also have Affinity Designer, opening the document in it will show the un-rasterized vectors unless you change the view mode to Pixel or Retina.
