Moving an Image

How do I select an image (not the whole document or canvas) and move it up and down to center it in the canvas? using selection brush tool?

I know it sounds simple but I couldn't figure out how to do it on Affinity.

Assuming you have a defined document size and placed image(s) on this, either click with the selection arrow tool on the image or click on it's image layer in the layer panel to select it, than drag it to the desired position. You can activate the snappings for propper manual placing or use the vert/horiz orientation tools for alignment.

To select the image : click on the image layer or use the Move (V) tool and click on the image itself

You could use the Arrange button to center horizontal & vertical on the canvas
