roastpost Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Hello, I am designing a label for a smoking related product that will have to go through governmental approval. I have to fully recreate a smoking warning sign which must follow very strict standards of sizing ratios. I have attached an example (it is german but should be understandable). What is the best way to go about designing this? For example: how can I figure out if an object is 12% of a total area? Thank you so much for your help! Quote
gdenby Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Draw the rectangle you want into which to put the "Balken" section. Copy and paste that. With it still selected, go to the transform panel, and in the "H" field, type 8=.12 You will get a section as wide as the work area, but only 12% high. Move it to the bottom or the 1st rectangle, and work in that to add the letters. I think the broken cigarette image will need to be made by itself, and snapped to the bottom corner of the "Balken" Do same for the other portions, arranging them in sequence. roastpost Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Hello gdenby thanks for helping out! I've tried to add 8=.12 into the H field but it does not change the size of the object for me. After I hit enter it simply reverts to the original amount again. Thanks again for your help. Quote

An unfortunate typo on @gdenby's part! He meant to type *=.12 (i.e. multiply by 0.12). You could alternatively just type 12% instead. gdenby 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
